We guided the project from concept to finished book with close attention to craft and presentation. Our goal was to create a physical object that honors Sandra’s voice. Additionally, we wanted to offer readers a refined, cohesive reading experience.
We paired each poem with a custom illustration that reflects and amplifies its emotional tone, imagery, and rhythm. The illustrations developed alongside the text. As a result, visual and verbal elements respond to one another—sometimes reinforcing poetry’s central image, sometimes offering a counterpoint that invites deeper reflection. This approach creates a subtle dialogue between word and image on every page.
We printed the petry collection on carefully selected fine papers at our Newtown facility and used considered typographic choices for precise reproduction. Additionally, we adjusted typeface, leading, and margins to support readability and preserve each poem’s pacing. High-quality printing captures colour and detail in the illustrations. These choices produce a tactile, visually engaging book that invites slow reading and repeated visits.
We also prioritized durability and consistency: we chose paper weights, binding methods, and finishes to ensure the book wears gracefully and showcases Sandra Witter’s work over time. Whether you read casually or study closely, this collection presents the poems in a setting that enhances their emotional clarity. It also increases their lasting impact.
