Local artist and former Laura Ashley designer and historian Brian Jones popped in for some A3 poster prints, with a beautiful piece of history, a 1959 Pryce Jones Catalogue.
Preserving a Piece of Newtown’s History
Brian generously allowed me to reproduce several pages from this valuable local historical artefact he possesses, which I’m excited to share with you.
A Legacy of Textile Innovation in Newtown
With centuries of textile and manufacturing heritage in Newtown, combined with the extensive local knowledge accumulated over generations by residents of Montgomeryshire and Powys, Brian exemplifies the legacy of the once-prominent local businesses.
These pioneers were instrumental in creating the world’s first mail-order catalogue and inventing the sleeping bag, among many other innovations.
